Ask the students to finish the following tasks:


1. Watch the video and sum up the usage of adverbs of frequency.


2. Watch the video and sum up the usage of the simple present tense.


3. Write a composition on the subject “My schedule” and tell us whether you lead an orderly life or not.

Show the schedules of many famous people and some excellent students in universities and ask them what we can learn from them.

1. Useful sentences:


1) He never goes to meetings.


2) He spends most of his time with his customers.


3) He usually goes for something to eat at the snack bar next to the salon.


4) After dinner, he often goes out to a karaoke bar or the cinema with his colleagues.


5) He rarely gets home before midnight.


6) Her favorite time of day is late at night, but she doesn’t spend all her time at work looking at the stars through a telescope.


7) She spends a lot of time on the supercomputer at the university and in meetings, and she only uses the telescope one or two nights a week.


8) She sometimes thinks that the meetings are a waste of time because they last so long, but she likes talking to her colleagues.


9) He often gets up early to practice and he usually spends three or four hours playing.


2. The simple present tense


I/You/We/They work/don’t work. Do I/you/they/we work?


He/She/It works/doesn’t work. Does he/she/it work?


用一般现在时谈论:


事实真理 I live in Spain.


习惯或重复性动作 He practices for five hours every day.


我们常把频度副词用于一般现在时中。频度副词要出现在主要动词之前,但是要位于be动词之后。


He usually arrives early. He’s usually early.

Practice


1. Underline the adverbs of frequency in the texts in a-d.


(Read the Grammar box with the class. Focus on the present simple table. Focus attention on the grammar reference section link. Give the students a few minutes to do the exercise. Check the answers.)


2. Complete the chart with adverbs of frequency.


Always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never.


(Lead students to remember them by cards and making sentences.)


3. Complete the sentences with the correct adverb of frequency .


(Tell students that in this exercise they should use each adverb of frequency once. When they have completed the sentences with the correct adverb of frequency, check the answers. Then lead students to practice the six sentences and try to recite them.)
